Can television programs be used to study our history? This class will explore how well some classic television programs reflect their times, the American culture in which they were presented, and what they tell us about how Americans viewed themselves. What were the roles of women and minorities?
Each class will view a representative episode of a show, followed by a discussion of how it was “historical.” This class will focus on sitcoms from 1950-1975.
