Willa Brown was an aviator, activist, educator, politician, and more. This hometown heroine became the first
African American woman to receive a pilot’s license in the United States and she has more firsts to her name.
Throughout her amazing life, Brown championed the causes of all, including African Americans and women. Educated in the schools of Terre Haute, Indiana, this lifelong educator mentored all regardless of race or creed,
including the renowned Tuskegee Airmen. Brown is not only a local hero but a national treasure.
Come join local historian Crystal Reynolds, PhD, and learn more about her life through her formative years in Terre Haute through her work with the Tuskegee Airmen, to her life as an educator in Chicago.
View the Willa Brown display at the Vigo County Historical Museum which is the site of the presentation.
Price of admission to the talk also includes access to the museum.
