This class will look at the technological developments, Political purposes, and Historical circumstances that culminated in the development of the Impressionist movement.
October 18: First class will discuss European changes in aesthetics.
October 25: Second class will tie American painters into a more global movement focused on paint’s materiality and ability to represent reality.
