Join writer and photographer Mike Lunsford on Thursday, October 27 for another walk through historic Highland
Lawn Cemetery. This fall, Lunsford will continue his tour of the beautiful burial ground with visits to sites not
covered on earlier walks. First opened in 1884 with the burial of housewife Samantha McPherson, Highland Lawn
today is the second largest cemetery in Indiana and has over 50,000 burials. This tour will emphasize stops at many of its most interesting residents: silent film star, Valeska Suratt; professional baseball star, Asa “Ace” Stewart; politician J. Everett Sanders; women’s rights activist, Helen Benbridge; socialite, Otela Snyder; three-time Congresswoman, Virginia Jenckes; and many more. Wear durable walking shoes. Bottles of water and snacks will be provided.
