Cardiology: Early Warning Signs for Heart Attack and/or Stroke

Severe chest pain may be an obvious sign something is wrong; however, heart disease can be deadly because many people don't recognize some early signs and symptoms and they don't seek treatment until it may be too late.

Some heart attacks are sudden and severe, but most begin slowly with chest discomfort as the first sign. You need to pay attention if you experience the following warning signs of a heart attack.

The four signs are chest pain, indigestion, shortness of the breath, and weakness.

It is important to pay attention to any symptoms that may indicate heart disease. Don't ignore them or wait for them to go away - see your doctor for testing and diagnosis. Many people mistake heart disease symptoms for heartburn or muscle soreness. If you have any cardiac disease risk factors, including being male, over the age of 65, obese, smoking, diabetes, and a family history of heart disease, you should consult with a medical professional
