January 12: Soils are the building block to many of the items we use and consume in our everyday lives. From food to clothes to shelter, soil plays a key role. Soil is also alive with a diverse array of organisms and can be heavily impacted by human management, for better or worse. This presentation will go over the basics of soils and how different soil properties influence their uses.  We will talk about how to tell if soil is healthy and how the actions of humans impact soil health.  We will also discuss how to improve soil health and the many conservation practices that farmers and gardeners are using to grow our food and fiber more sustainable.

January 19: Do you know where your food comes from? Most of the fresh and refrigerated food we find in our local supermarkets is trucked hundreds of miles and is weeks old before we are able to purchase. What if we could find all of it locally? We will discuss how you can find fresh, local food in the Wabash valley with Josh Mason from Kindred Roots Farm.

January 26: Discover what happens once food is delivered to your grocery store, how foods are displayed, and what challenges this industry has faced in the last decade. Get a behind the scenes look at what goes into the sale of food from the perspective of a business that has been a staple in our community for many generations.
