Mayor Duke Bennett will share with OLLI members some of the many community improvements during 2022, as well as plans for additional improvements in 2023. The Mayor will discuss some of the 150 partnership accomplishments totaling $500 million between business, government, and non-profit investments in Terre Haute and Vigo County in 2022. He will highlight over 40 new business openings, numerous education and health care advancements, infrastructure improvements (drainage, sidewalks, streets, parks, riverside facilities), the Convention Center, recreation, tourism and landscaping and parking improvements, as well as numerous community cultural activities.
OLLI members will learn about the upcoming plans for 2023 including continuing riverfront developments, a Sports Complex and East side Aquatic Center, and of course the pending completion of the casino. Additionally, feasibility studies and the funding growth in part with the Economic Development Income Tax are in the works for trail and green-way planning, the secondary sewer master plan, and other long range infrastructure projects. The Terre Haute
Urbanized Area Railroad and Corridor Study, and Downtown Parking and Pedestrian plans offer great promise, as well.
