The Brain Explained
With Paul Schanfield, MD
April 10, 17, 24 May 1, 8, 15
3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Unraveling the mysteries of the brain is the starting point for a class that navigates the complex, fragmented healthcare system and discusses strategies for advocating for personalized care. In addition to simplifying common neurological conditions—such as headaches, dizziness, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and memory loss—the course examines testing and imaging of the nervous system. It also focuses on illness prevention through healthy lifestyles and provides an intimate discussion of end-of-life issues.
Dr. Schanfield, a retired neurologist from Minnesota, practiced privately for 40 years before retiring in 2015. He continues to teach medical students and residents as a Clinical Professor of Neurology at the University of Minnesota. In 2017, he was recognized as the first-ever Community Educator of the Month by the University of Neurology.
