This summer, OLLIwood examines the gangster film as a reflection of American ambition, identity, and moral consequence. Featuring four landmark films–Little Caesar (1931), Scarface (1932), The Godfather (1972), The  Godfather II (1974)--the series traces the genre’s evolution from early sound-era crime dramas to sweeping cinematic epics of the 1970s. Through iconic performances, innovative filmmaking, and enduring cultural influence, these films explore themes of loyalty, power, family, and the cost of success.Each screening includes a historical introduction, optional post-film discussion, refreshments, and a weekly DVD giveaway celebrating classic cinema.  Lights, camera, action—OLLIwood awaits

Members who cancel a program registration will only receive a full refund if the following criteria are met: cancellation is received in the OLLI office 15 business days prior to the first meeting of any Course or Osher Online Course, cancellation is received in the OLLI office 30 business days prior to the event for a Special Event and/or 30 business days prior to the departure date for all day trips and overnight trips.
