This two-session course explores the depth and diversity of Italian wine culture, led by Dr. Maki Hirotani, faculty member at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and a DipWSET-certified wine educator. The first session introduces Italian wine history, key grape varieties, and the distinctive traditions of northern regions, with emphasis on Veneto and Piedmont. The second session examines central and southern Italy, highlighting Tuscany and Sicily, regional styles, Roman-era wine history, and pairing traditions. Each session provides cultural context and offers a comprehensive look at Italy’s enduring relationship with wine, food, and place.
