Dr. Kurt Fowler, Professor of Music at Indiana State University, explores the rise of the Beatles from Liverpool clubs to international stardom. Beginning on February 9—the anniversary of their iconic 1964 Ed Sullivan Show debut—this course traces the band’s formative years, musical influences, and cultural impact. Sessions highlight early hits, the British Invasion, and the group’s rapid artistic evolution through the mid-1960s. Along the way, the class examines the Beatles’ innovative studio techniques, collaborations with producer George Martin, and their groundbreaking role in reshaping popular music. This course promises to be a lively celebration of history’s most influential band.
