The personal essay is among the oldest and most enduring forms of creative nonfiction, blending storytelling, reflection, and analysis. This course examines the personal essay as both art and self-expression, exploring how writers shape true narratives with theme, tone, and structure. Through readings, discussions, and writing exercises, participants study essential elements such as narrative arc, reflection, and perspective, discovering how essays capture unique voices and reveal insight into human experience.

Members who cancel a program registration will only receive a full refund if the following criteria are met: cancellation is received in the OLLI office 15 business days prior to the first meeting of any Course or Osher Online Course, cancellation is received in the OLLI office 30 business days prior to the event for a Special Event and/or 30 business days prior to the departure date for all day trips and overnight trips.
