This trip focuses on the study of democracy and its citizens. It is a two-week trip that begins in Athens, Greece and ends in Rome, Italy, with a number of stops in-between. Students will be integrating the study of the origins of democracy-its role, purpose, functions-to that which we see today in the U.S. and other modern democracies. Throughout this study, connections between institutions, political leaders, citizens, and democratic values and principles will be made from both a historical and contemporary lens. Students will also be tapping into career and world readiness competencies as they develop important skills such as analytical/critical thinking and citizenship/community engagement.
