Join ISU Professor of Music Dr. Kurt Fowler as he picks up where he left off in the Fall Term and takes a deep dive into the historical and cultural context and development of rock music beginning in the 70s with the break-up of the Beatles, continuing through the musical styles of the 80s, and concluding with Nirvana in the early 90s.The class will cover the various ways human experience is reflected in the American popular music of the time as Dr. Fowler discusses basic musical terms and forms, stylistic elements of prominent musical trends, relationships between music and society, and prominent artists and selected songs.
