Certain drinks are best complemented by specific foods. Serving cheese with wine makes both taste better. The same can be said about pretzels and beer, or cake and coffee. Join Dr. Luanne Tilstra, Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Rose-Hulman as she shares stories and presents fundamentals of the chemistry behind the production of these drinks and foods and offers samples of each so students can experience the effect of various chemistries on both texture and taste. Both the bona fide “foodie” and the curious eater will appreciate the science and lore behind our favorite food and drink combinations
