In honor of Women's History Month, Caroline Heath-Lynch, assistant curator of the Indiana State University Permanent Art Collection, leads an in-depth exploration of the profound impact women have had on modern and contemporary art. The course will cover the historical journey of women in the arts, examine the contributions of female artists like Lee Krasner, Frida Kahlo, and Georgia O'Keeffe in comparison to their male counterparts, and spotlight the work of those challenging sexism, such as Judy Chicago and the Guerrilla Girls. The course also showcases works by groundbreaking contemporary female artists, including those in ISU's Permanent Collection, featuring pieces by Ida Kohlmeyer, Gertrude Abercrombie, and more.
